The 7bridges software now automatically extracts data from PDF invoices and more
Introduction
A lot of logistics data is tied up in PDF documents; documents like invoices and airway bills. Extracting this in a systematic and automated way means that Optimise customers can get to a much higher completeness of data. This leads to greater visibility of your supply chain, more Audit value and more meaningful simulations. It also means lighter onboarding for Logistics Service Providers (LSPs), who don't need to spend time or resources creating reports; an often cumbersome and slow process.
The 7bridges software supports the functionality to automatically parse and extract logistics data from PDF documents and not just structured data files (e.g. CSV).
Some examples of documents that are supported by the PDF extraction feature are:
- Freight invoices
- Parcel invoices
- Commercial invoices
- Bill of Lading
- Airway bills
- Import declarations
- Export declarations
How it works
The software uses recent advances in AI technology to extract this data and load it into the 7bridges platform quickly and seamlessly. This means there are no longer delays for manual understanding of the document and the subsequent extraction of the data to ingest into the 7bridges software.
Comprehensive workflow
Powering this PDF data extraction is a comprehensive workflow tool that is a key part of the Optimise software offering. Workflows are configured to carefully manage the LSPs who are sending the PDF documents.
These workflows also create traceability in the data extraction and ingestion, helping with the supportability of the software.
How to setup new PDF documents
The first step for supporting new PDF document types in your 7bridges account is to make sure you have created the Provider Account. Once this is done, simply speak to your Customer Success Manager or Contact the Support team and they'll advise the next steps.
In the meantime, you can already get your LSP to start sending the documents by SFTP (if already setup) or email. If using email, be sure to use this email address format: invoices+providername@your7bridgesdomain
