Receiving data into my data warehouse

How do I receive data into my data warehouse?

If you wish to receive cleaned and standardised data from 7bridges into your data warehouse to view the information in your own reporting system you are able to do that. This is a bolt-on feature for Optimise customers.

What data can be received?

The data can be split into 2 broad categories:

Standardised data

This is data that has come 'directly' from the various files that have been sent to the 7bridges software. It is harmonised in the formatting but has not gone through any transformations. Examples include data points from a Logistics Service Provider (LSP) invoice or basic shipment information from a shipment report.

Transformed data

This is data that has been generated or derived through various operations by the 7bridges software. This data helps to deliver the value of the 7bridges software. Examples include milestone/tracking data obtained by 7bridges, simulation recommendations, or quotes from the 7bridges Rating Engine.

Transformed data is available as a license to the customer so long as they are still a 7bridges customer. The ultimate ownership of transformed data lies with 7bridges. Whereas, standardised data is available in the data feeds and can be kept by the customer forever.

To setup the data feed you will work with your Customer Success Manager to define the fields you want in your feed.

What are the delivery mechanisms?

The way you received this data is setup bespoke for each customer. There are a number of options to choose for this:

  • Format: Choose between 1 file/table or multiple split by data type
  • Delivery mechanism: Choose between email with download link, SFTP endpoint or a direct connection to the 7bridges data warehouse
  • Frequency: Choose how often you receive the data (this is not needed when going for the direct data warehouse connection)

These decisions are made in consultation with your Customer Success Manager.

How to set this up

As there are many options to choose from, your Customer Success Manager will guide you through the process. For some customers, a monthly email with links to download CSV files works really well. For other customers, they need the standardised data to also be stored in their internal data warehouse for greater internal reporting and analysis.

Please speak to your Customer Success Manager if you want to discuss this further.
