Various data files can be delivered to the 7bridges software via SFTP; how does this work?
Introduction
- SFTP push is one of a number of ways that data files are delivered to the 7bridges software.
- These files can include Logistics Service Provider (LSP) invoices, shipment reports etc.
- This delivery normally involves an LSP supplying the files via the SFTP connection.
- These files are then parsed by the 7bridges software and data extracted and inserted according to the type of data.
Setup
- To setup an SFTP push connection, first add the connection on the Account page in the Providers section. Get more help using the Providers section here
- 7bridges will then create the SFTP connection and share the credentials in that Account page in the Providers section.
- You can then pass these connection details to whoever needs them to supply the files on an ongoing basis
Only users with role Admin or Optimise can add and edit the connections including viewing the details and credentials.
Delivering files by SFTP
The SFTP connection is setup unlike a traditional SFTP connection to a folder and file structure. This means you will not be able to see lists of files in a directory.
Once the connection is established, simply transfer the file. If the file transfer completes successfully then the file has been delivered to the 7bridges software and it will shortly appear in the Ingests page in the Data Manager section of the 7bridges software.
Please don't worry that you cannot see the list of files in the folder.
There is a 60 second timeout on SFTP connections. This is a security precaution on the 7bridges software to avoid connections being left open for long periods or huge files being transferred. Invoice and shipment report files can easily be transferred within 60 seconds.
