How 7bridges handles log data and retention
An overview of the types of data logged during platform operation, how long it is retained, and how it is kept secure.
The 7bridges software records log data during normal platform operation to support performance monitoring, troubleshooting, and security. This article explains what types of log data exist, how long they are kept, and how they are protected.
Types of log data
Operational logs
These are system-level records of activity on the platform — requests processed, tasks completed, and errors encountered. They are used by our engineering team to monitor platform health and diagnose issues. They do not contain the content of your shipments, orders, or documents.
Activity and transaction logs
When the platform interacts with external services on your behalf (for example, requesting shipping rates or confirming a booking), we may log the outcome of those interactions. This helps with debugging and support queries.
Audit records
Significant actions within the platform — such as changes to carrier accounts, invoices, or user permissions — are recorded in an internal audit trail. These records include the user who performed the action and the timestamp.
How long is log data retained?
| Type | Retention period |
|---|---|
| Operational logs | Up to 90 days |
| Activity and transaction logs | Up to 90 days |
| Audit records | Retained for the duration of your contract and in accordance with applicable legal requirements |
| Your business data (orders, shipments, invoices, etc.) | Until deletion request or legal requirement (max 6 years) |
Retention periods for operational logs in your specific agreement may be shorter. If you need to confirm the terms in your agreement, please contact your customer success manager.
How is log data protected?
- Access to operational logs is restricted to 7bridges engineering and operations staff
- All log data is held within our secure cloud infrastructure
- Log entries are tagged with a unique request identifier, enabling precise tracing if needed for support or investigation
- Error events are monitored by our engineering team for rapid triage
Your data rights
Your business data — orders, shipments, addresses, bookings, invoices, and related records — is governed by your customer agreement and applicable data protection law. You may request deletion of your data at any time; please contact your customer success manager or raise a request through support.
